About KES-01

The device and its principals of operation

4.1. Electrostimulating system.

4.1.1. The electrostimulator operates connected to IBM-PC compatible computer.

The minimal PC configuration requirements:

a) Processor Intel 386SX33 or analogous;
b) RAM 4 Mb;
c) Free hard-disk space 10 Mb;
d) Video display card VGA;
e) Manipulator "mouse".

Microsoft Windows operating system (Windows 3.1. or higher version) should be installed on the PC.

4.1.2. When performing electrostimulation, the transformation and commutation of signals(impulses), as well as forming of stimulation impulses with preset characteristics, are effected by KES Electrical Unit (EU).

4.1.3. EU is connected by the cable to PC parallel port.

4.1.4. EU provides galvanic isolation (with 4 kWt "resistance to voltage" strength) between patient and PC electrical circuits.

4.1.5. The search and control electrodes (effecting transmission of patient skin resistance electrical signals in AP) as well as stimulation electrodes (providing transmission of stimulation impulses to patient's skin) are connected to EU by cables via plug-and-sockets located on the front panel of EU.

4.1.6. Manipulator provides a patient with facilities to adjust (depending on patient's perception) the amplitude of stimulation impulses.

4.2. Principals of operation.

4.2.1. The monitoring of electrostimulator is effected with the help of software, included in delivery.

4.2.2. KES Software

  • provides the means to input in database and to display on the monitor the information about all the patients, sessions and modes, sorted by patients' surnames;
  • processes the results of AP electrical resistance measurements (meterages taken before and after the session) received from EU, and indicates the readings on the monitor;
  • provides the facilities to chose the stimulating impulses parameters combination to set up required simulation mode for each of 16 points and to visualize these parameters;
  • provides the facilities to preset individual stimulation characteristics for each AP;
  • controls setting up stimulation mode for each of 16 APs;
  • provides the means of multiple repetition of stimulation process with preset mode.

4.2.3. KES electrical unit has 2 channels of 12-bit AD-converter, 12-bit AD-converter, switchboard, microprocessor. The first channel of AD-converter takes patient's skin conductivity in AP, the second channel sequentially takes APs conductivity (up to 16 points) before and after the session. AD-converter determines the form and the amplitude of the signal, the switchboard alternately connects stimulation electrodes to EU, the microprocessor handles all the input and output signals.
